What You’ll Learn in the MHRM Program

This 30-credit (10-course) graduate program leads to a Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) degree. The program prepares new and experienced HR practitioners to meet the changing expectations of HR, shaping policy and practice as strategic partners. The curriculum is based on the professional body of knowledge defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). 

  

The curriculum is focused on students demonstrating these outcomes:

  • In-depth knowledge of the ethical value choices and responsibilities of businesses and business leaders to engage in ethical decision-making within a Franciscan context.
  • Competencies in the following functional areas of HR; the foundation of HRM; staffing, recruitment, and retention; employment and labor law; compensation and benefits administration; performance management; and other content areas identified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
  • Skills in strategic analysis and integration of HR.
  • Ability to communicate with relevant stakeholders at a proficient (or advanced level) by developing effective written communication skills, and effective oral communication and business presentation skills.

  • The MHRM degree curriculum is focused on accomplishing these five outcomes:

  • Exclusively for High Achievers:

    • The accelerated program has higher admission standards than other undergraduate business programs

    • Open to qualified incoming freshman and transfer students who meet the following requirements: 

      • SAT score of 1150 or higher in critical reading and math or an ACT composite score of 22 or
        higher

      • GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale

  • Saint Francis University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), located in Lenexa, Kansas.

Frequently Asked Questions About MHRM and Saint Francis University

  • What are the admissions requirements for U.S. Residents?

    Applicant Requirements (U.S. Residents)

    All applicants must complete the process  fully online. 

    The following materials must be submitted for the master's degree in human resources: 

      

    • Completed application for admission :  MHRM Application Form
    • A non-refundable application fee of $30, paid via credit card (online)
    • Two (2) letters of professional recommendation :  MHRM Recommendation Form
    • A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 is required. If a candidate's GPA is <3.0, he or she may be accepted on a provisional basis while taking up to nine (9) credits. The student must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the six credits to be admitted to the program. If these requirements are not met the student will not be admitted to the program. 
    • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course work completed by the applicant must be uploaded online.

  • Does the MHRM at SFU align with SHRM’s Professional Competencies?

    Yes, -the curriculum is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management relative to its SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certification program competencies. The course structure and content is based on the specific body of knowledge identified by the human resource certification program and is periodically recognized by SHRM at its national conference for having done so. 

  • Do I need to have GMAT?GRE scores?

    No GMAT/GRE tests are required. Ever.

  • Can I take this program if I am on a F-1 Student Visa?

    Unfortunately, no. This program is classified as fully online and does not meet the criteria for F1 Visa holders.
